Overview & Highlights

Located in the heart of Lahad Datu's bustling Fajar Centre, Nasi Lemak & Co. is a must-visit culinary gem that proudly showcases the beloved Malaysian classic, nasi lemak, infused with local Sabahan flavors. This vibrant restaurant specializes in authentic Malaysian cuisine with an emphasis on the iconic nasi lemak—fragrant coconut milk-infused rice, perfectly paired with a symphony of spicy-sweet sambal, crunchy roasted peanuts, crispy ikan bilis (anchovies), fresh cucumber slices, and a comforting half-boiled egg. The aroma of the rice, beautifully cooked and presented on banana leaf, instantly transports you into the heart of Malaysian comfort food.

Among their signature offerings, the Nasi Lemak Biasa shines as a definitive classic—simple yet deeply satisfying, whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. But for those drawn to more adventurous flavors, the variety here is exceptional, with renditions like the Nasi Lemak Ikan Tenggiri offering fresh, succulent fish complemented by a rich, flavorful gravy. The texture contrasts—the gigantic crunchy peanuts, tender fish, and the fragrant rice—create an irresistible bite that keeps diners coming back for more.

The drink selection at Nasi Lemak & Co. is just as enticing, featuring refreshing iced beverages such as the tropical Cincau Ais, the creamy and sweet Sirap Bandung Ais XXL, and the ever-popular 3 Layer Tea Ais. Their ice-blended options like Blue Mint and Laici add a cool and invigorating complement to the hearty meals, perfectly balancing the spices and richness of the dishes.

The dining atmosphere mirrors the genuine warmth of Malaysian hospitality; the restaurant is welcoming and well-kept, where friendly staff greet patrons with attentive service. While some customers have noted that the service can occasionally feel a bit too close for comfort, the overall experience remains overwhelmingly positive, thanks to the delicious food and inviting setting.

Notably, generous portions are a standout, especially in dishes like their sotong goreng (fried squid), which many have found so plentiful and tasty that taking some home for a later meal was an irresistible option. This generous serving size combined with reasonable prices offers excellent value for both locals and travelers craving authentic flavors.

Whether you are a dedicated nasi lemak lover or a curious foodie exploring Malaysian specialties, Nasi Lemak & Co. promises a journey through rich flavors and comforting aromas that leave you eagerly planning your next visit. Be prepared to savor each bite of this Malaysian culinary treasure nestled in Lahad Datu.

Newly open, has some good nasi lemak, recommend their main dish. Other dish lack description, Nasi goreng, I didn't know it was nasi goreng seafood/achovies, I can't eat the shrimps that come with it. The name of the dish should be base of what it is than just the general name 'nasi goreng' because I would think it just eggs with vegetables or chicken, atleast have a description of what that dish is.

The portion of sotong goreng is so much till I wanted to tapau for next meal. Definitely worth the money. It is delicious too

One of the recommended eatery place to go if u come to Lahad Datu. U can taste the authenticity of malaysian number one favourite, NASI LEMAK. complete with spicy sambal, cruchy anchovies and ground nuts and there also cucumber slices and half boiled egg. The smell of fragrant Rice on top of banana leaf. Nice ambience of restaurant.

The food was delicious and the drinks were fresh and satisfying. The service from the waiters was excellent, they were polite and attentive, and I really appreciated that. However, one thing that felt a bit uncomfortable was the way the waiters were required to stand very close to customers’ tables. It seemed like they were just following instructions, but it did affect the sense of privacy. It was difficult to have a personal conversation when someone was constantly nearby, even if unintentionally. I believe this is more of a management decision, not the staff’s fault, but perhaps it’s something worth reviewing to make the dining atmosphere more relaxed and customer-friendly. Overall, a lovely place with great food, just a small adjustment could make the experience even better.

The Nasi Lemak Ikan Tenggiri tasted so good, I love how fragrant the rice is, and how fresh the fish as well. The gravy's good, but I'm especially fascinated by their gigantic size peanuts and the crunchiness of their anchovies! They were amazing and I would definitely dine in again. The service on the other hand was lacking just a little, some of the waitress there seem a bit easy to get distracted and weren't very observant, I do think they improve on that part. Parking spaces are also good, I had no problem with that. I ordered Sambal Ikan Bilis Croissant and I love the sweet milky taste of the pastry, it was also crunchy, I have no other way to describe it. The sambal however was a bit too spicy for me but I enjoyed eating it. As for drinks, I only had warm water.

The food was absolutely delicious, the staff were exceptionally friendly, and the shop was spotless and welcoming. Overall, it was a satisfying experience.
